The command to labor was a creation ordinance and is implicit in God's example. Man, by being created in God's image, was designed to work. Work is implicit in the other commandments, as well and is explicit in God's purpose for man. Therefore, it is a false notion that work resulted from the fall of man into sin; however, sin did radically change the conditions of labor. Nonetheless, the commandment to labor applies directly and completely to all of us. |
