I agree with you, WSG. Before highschool, a homeschooled child should have all the basics down. I've seen those statistics of an eighth grade graduation test from the 1800's that even today's Ivy League students couldn't pass. It shows how low education has sunk.

I can't speak for all homeschool families, but in my family our children will not go to highschool, Christian or otherwise. We have found that by the time they are at that age, they are so self guided that there is nothing the highschool has to offer them. At this point they either go to community collage classes, take online courses from a collage, or just find a job and do their own thing. It's amazing how many homeschool kids out there start their own businesses!

My 3 children went to a Christian school
for their elementary years. 2 of them are living the Christian life. In my
opinion the home is far more important than the school. Inconsistency by the
parents will have a greater effect.

Paul didn't say "Send your children to be indoctrinated with every atheiest whim the world throws out and hope for the best" tell me, if you spend 7+ hours in school 5 days a week from preschool to college, what are you going to come out as? Not a Martin Luther or anything, except by a miracle of God.

Anon, Christians can get every degree you listed, without setting foot in a government brainwashing temple.

Paul had told the Corinthians in his first (lost to us) letter to the Corinthians something about avoiding immoral people. Some of the Corinthians were interpreting Paul as advising they separate utterly from the world, but he answers them in 1 Cor. 5:9-11 that this isn't what he meant.

Should no Christians get university degrees either? No Christian lawyers, doctors, professors, etc. to witness to the world? The instinct to fly away from the public is precisely why the public (and higher education) are so liberal and secular--all the Christians got scared and ran away. Abolish, are you sure you're not a closet Essene?

Cass said: "By not sending Christian kids to public schools you are condeming those other kids."

Your job as a parent is to raise your children in the fear of the Lord, not to send them into Satan's church, with Satan's mind-control experts using groupthink brainwashing methods to "facilitate" the programming and reprogramming of your child. Try to help the victims of public school after school is over, and set an example by your separation. In a few years, when the children in your neighborhood are going off the deep end and your children aren't, the results will speak for themselves. You'll also see your child will have no problem getting into any college they want, [not that you need the world's colleges anymore than you need their schools.]

Don't be shocked when your children come home from government school telling you they see themselves as overpopulated animals in the food chain, and advocate euthanasia, abortion, homosexuality.

You said, "Do you not know God protects our children?"

I'm sure you know your job is to protect your own children, not throw them to the wolves and hope God will keep them safe.

Havent you ever thought that if you raise your children right, they can teach others to come to Christ aswell in Public Schools? By not sending Christian kids to public schools you are condeming those other kids. This is very sad. I went to a public school myself and if you built your foundation upon the solid rock, what they 'teach' you dosnt harm you because you know the Truth.

You, my fellow Christian, seem to be driven by fear. Do you not know God protects our children? People choose to go astray.

Ah, yes. In your first-rate response below you mentioned the number 3 weapon in Satan's scheme to bring the entire earth under the control of demons (that is by humans becoming mereged with these entities) who will pay homage to the higher "principalities" that will inhabit the AntiChrist.

I'm speaking in reference to abortion which is naught more than the sacrifices of innocent little ones to Satan to empower his dark rule. Demons have a blooodthirst and since Roe vs. Wade this country has worked overtime to satisfy them to satiety. We have seen the inevitable corresponding degradation of every area of human life these past four decades, as people are literally loosing their minds to hordes of demons.

There are 46 million murders that are ritualistically performed annually worldwide as the blood of the little children are fed to demons. The US has greatly contributed to the demonic appetite, by slaughtering 58 million little babies of innocent blood since 1973. Thanks for bringing it up in your post.

In these perilous times we have to walk lightly and warily. For instance, in my daily intercourse with sinners I already am under the presumption that I am dealing with living demons. Things that used to be inexplicable no longer trouble me 'twall.

Rick, I pay for the Internet every month. It's not free at all.

Now if the government was forcing all the property owners to pay taxes so everyone could have "free Internet," then I might have something to complain about.

The Internet, originally invented by the elites to keep tabs on the "serfs," has turned out to be a nemesis for the NWO, and millions of people are waking up to the truth of the NWO, which is why Tony Blair has called for a shutdown of the Net, and why NeoCON Newt Gingrich and others are calling for an end to the constitutional right to freedom of speech (for "national security")--

The government schools are nothing but state-run and sponsored churches for the government to indoctrinate other people's children in the religion of atheism, appreciation of homosexuality and other perversion, abortion, hatred of Christianity, evolution and other Satanic pseudosciences like psychology and pharmacy.

So, yes, people who send their children to these schools are stealing from their neighbors, the people who must pay the school taxes for their neighbor children's "free" education.

People who really want their children to be indoctrinated in this way should form their own such schools and pay for them themselves.

Abolish,

You accuse parents of stealing from their neighbors by sending their children to public schools? (By the way, my wife and I homeschool our four children.) I think you may have been overly harsh, or too quick to judge. After all, you clearly use the internet's infrastructure, much of which was built using tax money. Are YOU guilty of stealing from YOUR neighbors?

I wanted to weigh in on this discussion. My wife and I are a one room school house for our five children ranging in ages from 6 to 17. At this point, we would have it no other way. We live in a small rural area that is by no means totally God fearing. Even in this small community, there is a great deal of alcohol and drugs, domestic violence and sex. The answer is not in a system or a community or a "village". It is in the family. I know as a father, the Lord impresses upon me that I am responsible to raise and prepare my children to be a light in the world. I am required to lead them to a path of salvation and righteousness and also warn them of the temptations which abound. I believe it would be difficult to have the impact that is needed, when they would spend more time out of the home than in it. I am not critical of those who do send their children to school, I just know my children would not be who they are and I would not be able to have the impact on them that is needed. I am responsible for their physical, emotional and spiritual well being.
Our children need to see the love of God from us. We are the model they are to follow. As the Word says: "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord."Eph 6:4

"Christianity should be a way of life, not something to do to fill the hours with meaningless discussion which makes people feel important and pious, but produces absolutely no fruit (but boredom and disgust)." -Abolish indoctrination mills

Amen, amen!! Christianity is more than words and a name. It reminds me of Benjamin Whichcote who said, "men have an itch rather to make religion than to practice it."

"He was indeed thankful for the freedom he enjoyed"

Freedom to steal from your neighbor and force that neighbor to help corrupt your own children?

Your conscience allows you to enjoy this?

Emile smiled - and prayed. And he was thankful for the passion of young men - but sad for the excesses it sometime brought. He was indeed thankful for the freedom he enjoyed - and chose to end the discussion.

Emile, excuse me, but you write just like JD. Are you two related?

And I didn't realize you had no options, that you were so poor. Before it sounded like you were a big leader in your community.

Either way, it's sin. You are stealing from your neighbor, corrupting your neighbor by dragging him into your decisions on how to (mis)educate your children, not to mention what you're doing to your own poor kids that you refuse to train up in the way they should go. Perhaps when they graduate from the government school, they can get a job as a security officer or policeman? I understand this is the biggest and growing field of employment today. Nothing like a nice government job to go with their nice government education.

Abolition . . .
You seem to be a rather sad and angry individual - a little uptight. Perhaps you should lighten up a bit - give yourself a break. I know I sometimes need to chill - perhaps it is your turn today. :-)

Ceci, your postings illustrate that talk is cheap, that if a person's religion doesn't bear fruit, or if it bears bad fruit, it is just empty and worthless.

Kind of like a lot of what goes on here at SA, blah, blah, blah.

Christianity should be a way of life, not something to do to fill the hours with meaningless discussion which makes people feel important and pious, but produces absolutely no fruit (but boredom and disgust).

I can imagine what all these churches are teaching week after week -- probably antinomian fairy tales about eternal security, and the stupid imminent rapture whopper that gullible people love to hear.

"Thou Shalt Not Steal' ??? And therein lies the short-sightedness of trying to turn a call/wisdom matter into a right/wrong issue. I defend your right to make that choice in submition to God but point out how unfortunately you have confused personal preference with timeless truth. To equate public schooling with breaking the commandment 'Thou Shalt not steal' (an accusation you boldy and, I dare say, unfortunately lay at the feet of millions of Chrisitans who send their children to public schools - to say nothing of the poor Christians in countries where government schools are the only option) may well be motivated by prejudiced misinformation at best or even pseudo-spiritual arrogance that hurts the Body of Christ at worst. It appears to me that the assumption here is that one particular exclusive perspective, for which there is neither biblical injunction nor motivation, is touted as the only right way for true or serious believers - and then typically biblical backing is 'isogesised' into the arguement for floundering support - blindly breaks many more commandments than the one it incorrectly seeks to upholds, gives rise to many of the judgments Jesus passed on the hypocrits of His day, and flies in the face of Jesus prayer that the Father would make us one.

Emile and Renai,

The community I live in the Superintendent prays at school board meetings and at public events. She is shown praying and asking for prayer in the local newspaper. She encourages Christians to be bold. There is only one school here, K-12.

Despite all that, despite the clusters of churches every 1/4 mile, despite vacation bible school in each one, despite all those efforts the graduating class of seniors lacks an ability to express exactly what he/she believes.

There is great open, verbal love for the Lord in this community but without discipline or desire for doctrine.

In a closed small Christian community of 700 why then is the divorce rate so unusually high for generations now? The number of fatherless children so many? The arrests of youth, parents and even grandparents for drugs and theft of property so high? The number of alcohol related automobile accidents so high in a dry county? The convictions of child molestation one too many? The incidents of child abuse and neglect so high? The plea for more and more foster parents?

All this in an isolated Christian community with only one public school, no private Christian school, one homeschool family. For what it's worth, this is also a predominantly white community. I am the only hispanic.
