Bless y'all too. |

I was at home. A friend called saying, "turn on the t.v., something bad has happened." My husband had flown out that morning. I reached him in a meeting in Atlanta, told him the news, and persuaded him to discontinue the meeting and head home. Everything was chaotic, trying to arrange transportation as airplanes were grounded, and rental cars were no longer available. I was making phone calls, and staying connected with him, while he was trying to get from downtown Atlanta to the airport. Interestingly, three guys who did not know each other, hooked up at the Atlanta airport, and drove home, keeping in touch with their respective families along the way. A point of amusement, and in keeping with my husband's character, he had left his laptop in the downtown Atlanta office, and had the audacity to ask these two guys with whom he was sharing a ride, to take him back to get it - AND, they did! It became a personal endeavor to get my husband home, and lessened the impact, temporarily, of what was going on nationally. That day is seared in my memory. Another interesting story was that a guy with the same company who was in Florida couldn't rent a car, so he bought one, drove it home, and later sold it. Drastic times call for drastic measures. |
