Dr. Ryan McIlhenny (“Dr. Mac”) grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, the son of First Orthodox Presbyterian Church of San Francisco. He graduated from Covenant College and later earned an M.A. in history from Cal State University, East Bay, and later a Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine. His dissertation was “To Preach Deliverance to the Captives:...Dr. Ryan McIlhenny (“Dr. Mac”) grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, the son of First Orthodox Presbyterian Church of San Francisco. He graduated from Covenant College and later earned an M.A. in history from Cal State University, East Bay, and later a Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine. His dissertation was “To Preach Deliverance to the Captives: Antislavery and Anti-Catholicism in the Religious Writings of George Bourne (1780-1845).” He is author and/or editor of several books, including “Kingdoms Apart” which engages with the current Two Kingdom theology discussions.
Ryan and his wife Becky have three sons and a daughter: Fisher, Canon, Josiah, and Selah. In his spare time he enjoys studying philosophy and theology, seeing a good film, playing with his sons, cooking, and backpacking. Ryan is a deacon at the Los Angeles Reformed Presbyterian Church and focuses his efforts on the mercy ministry of the congregation. | more | less
