A mediator brings separated parties together. Sin separates us from God. Before history began God chose Christ to be the Mediator. Salvation is God's Plan A. Christ acts as Mediator in three offices found in the Old Testament. He is our King, our Prophet, and our Priest. The crowds and Jesus' followers and enemies knew him as king and prophet; only with his death did it become clear that he is also our priest, indeed our Passover. God made Christ the heir of all things, judge of the world, and recipient of a people for himself. These things were his reward for the obedience and suffering by which he carried out in time God's eternal plan. In time we are redeemed, called, justified, sanctified, and glorified by our Mediator. God tells us to believe this Good News, trust in Christ and obey him. He promises that he will never turn away anyone who comes to him.
