With Simeon languishing in an Egyptian prison and Benjamin being demanded as a 'ransom' gesture, Jacob's world was falling in around him.
Given the circumstances it would be easy to look at the old man and feel sorry for him - but Pastor Quigley opens up for us the bigger picture and applies it to the Christian's life.
- Everything is against me - Everything in reality is going for him - His pride is preventing him from getting it right.

Great Sermon! I don't know if i agree with his assertions that Jacob was proud and arrogant (in his old age), but the sermon does have some good & helpful teaching here that can be extrapolated to other situations for us.

If Only WE Knew! I've re-listened to this sermon a few times recently, to remind myself of God's bigger perspective on my life. Too often I, like Jacob, am crying "Everything is against me!", when really, if I but knew it, everything is FOR me. God is working out plans that I may only see in heaven - but what amazing plans they are! Listen to this sermon if you want to stop thinking on a small scale.
