For the same reason doctors teach in medical school and lawyers teach in law school. You learn under people who have the 'on the ground' experience.' Expertise in Greek, Hebrew, Latin, and Theology does not automatically give you expertise in counseling, preaching, and leading Session meetings. Learning from pastors with years of both academic and pastoral experience is a bonus. In this context, here is the point made to the RPTS student body: "You are here to learn to advance Christ's Kingdom through your Spirit empowered witness."
