Paul, an apostle, considering himself to be in the line of the Prophets, writes a letter about God. The Gospel is God's, having been predetermined, revealed, and brought to pass by His will. Jesus is the Son of God and the living Lord in whom Paul receives grace and apostleship. The purpose of this gift and call is to lay before all men the name of Christ so that those who are called to Him are saved. The obedience which faith is is a response to Jesus that brings forgiveness of sin, justification, and imputed righteousness. The ultimate question that Paul asks is: What do we do with Jesus? We are commanded to obey the name--His call to receive Him and surrender oneself to Him. To refuse Christ is to disobey the Gospel and to refuse the provision that God has provided for salvation. Have you answered to the Gospel's command to come to Jesus? Will you meet with God on His terms?
