Idea: Prosperity does not equal the gospel. It does not equal salvation. If you find covetousness, selfishness, or self-satisfaction in your riches as part of your life then you must check your heart against the gospel.
1. Wealth does not reveal faith. 2. Death is real. 3. Heaven is real. 4. Hell is real. 5. The Gospel is real.
Conc. God doesn't look at how rich you are to see if you are fit for heaven. He doesn't measure how prestigious you are. He doesn't check to see how many Facebook followers you have. Your heart must be changed in order to be fit for heaven. That means that if you find yourself longing for wealth, often catch yourself coveting someone else's wealth or well-being, or stumbling because of selfishness, then you need to check your heart against the gospel. If you find yourself giving weighted attention to those who are rich, check your heart. If you find yourself thinking of yourself as being right with God because you are prosperous or generous, check your heart against the gospel. Prosperity is not the gospel. Check your heart. Repent as needed. Then train your heart to be satisfied to see God face to face. |
