God has given to each of us in His church our own responsibilities. That is true in both to old and new covenant periods of History. King Uzziah, however, was not satisfied to leave the God-given duties of priests to them; He thought that he was so favored by God that he could offer incense on the golden altar in the temple. Early in his life he had willingly received the counsel of a priest, but in this act of disobedience he was rightly confronted by the priests. When he refused their confrontation, God struck hm with leprosy and he lived alone the rest of his life. We must live in humility before Christ who is properly both our Priest and King and receive His counsel and rebuke.
