God has certain attributes some of which are incommunicable and some of which are communicable; that is some attributes can be transferred or shared. The Westminster Shorter Catechism answers the question, “What is God?” in this manner: “God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable, in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.” The characteristics of being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth are found in man in imperfect forms, but these attributes however limited are expressions of the image of God stamped upon all people. |
