Jesus Christ holds and executes three simultaneous offices in His role as the redeemer: king, priest and prophet. These offices are part of the image of God revealed in Christ; and aspects of these offices, knowledge, holiness, and dominion were made a part of the formation of man in the image of God. However, that image in man was marred by the Fall of Adam and the aspects of knowledge, righteousness and holy dominion were replaced by ignorance, guilt and bondage to sin. In order to be saved man must have knowledge of his sin, perceive a need for a savior, and put himself under submission to Christ. The Lord Jesus offers Himself to His people as a prophet by giving the scriptures. He offers Himself as a priest in making sacrifice for redemption standing as a mediator between God and man. The Redeemer is also a king and subdues his enemies unto himself.
