Paul unfolds the notion of mankind holding down the truth. Out of irreverence for God, they suppress the truth. God speaks and witnesses to having spoken by His creation. Creation itself witnesses to an "Other," a Creator who shows mankind His artistry, His mind, and His power and nature. Creation is not sufficient to save mankind. Mankind's religious impulses are not to be encouraged. Mankind has used his mind to make a living nightmare, ignorant of reality, worshiping himself and creation to appease his own fear. His "spirituality" is demonic and thankless of the Creator. By grace, the elect are saved and able to offer God a heart of thanks, joy, and rejoicing. The elect wait eagerly for the coming of Jesus Christ and praise God without fear and dread of the circumstances encountered.
