Unlike many current notions about the role of the intellect in the Christian's life, the Bible teaches that the intellect plays an important role in our sanctification. By intellect is not meant high minded arrogance or 'intellectualism', but the right use of the mind. In this section of the epistle, John tells us to 'think' or meditate about what you will be as that will cause you to purify yourself, even as Christ is pure. |
