In this part of Paul's letter to the Thessalonians, he touches on the subject of death and resurrection. Some of the people whom the Apostle was writing to were sorrowing over the loss of their loved ones. It is natural for us to grieve in such a situation, but Paul reminds us here that we are not without hope. Why? Because Jesus rose from the dead! He was triumphant over the grave; and therefore, we grieve with hope, and are able to comfort one another. On the Great Last Day, those who died in Christ will rise from the dead, just as He did; and those who are still alive will be caught up to meet Him in the air. Then we will be with Him forever and ever in heaven! This is indeed a comforting thought, as we remember that death will not be victorious over us! Our risen Jesus is our hope. |
