In a very intricately developed line of thought, Paul unfolds three primary requests for the Ephesian's in view of the church's obligation to manifest through their godly conduct the manifold wisdom of God to the holy angels. In view of this glorious and solemn obligation Paul prays for the divine empowerment of the Church. Paul prays in verse 16 that the Ephesians will be strengthened with divine power by the Holy Spirit in the inner man and in verse 18 he prays that the Ephesians may be empowered to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge. The prayer report concludes with a third and final petition, that they might be filled with all the fulness of God.
