All matters of worship are regulated by the scriptures and under the jealous, righteous authority of God. Right worship is instituted by the Lord, and He may not be worshiped according to the imaginations of men or the suggestions of Satan. The use of musical instruments in public worship was reserved exclusively for the bloody sacrifice of animals in the temple, and their use was by divine appointment reserved only for the Levites. Musical instruments belong forever to the old covenant sacrificial practices that were done away by the new covenant perfect sacrifice of Christ. The normal pattern of Biblical worship involves a cappella singing of psalms.
