Jesus has authority to forgive sins. Jesus is God and the question is: who has authority to forgive sins but God? The answer is the Lord God and His Anointed One. Jesus, as the mediatorial king, victorious over sin and death on the cross, has gained a kingdom as the Prince of Life. From the Father, he has been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, Jesus as mediator, in His earthly ministry, has authority to forgive sins. He is the one appointed to deal with them. |
