In the epistle of Romans, Paul has shown that God is justified in his actions of condemning a people who have rebelled against Him. Both Jews and Gentiles alike are condemned before the Lord for their unbelief.
There were numerous advantages to the old covenant people, chief of which they were entrusted with the revealed Word of God. The scriptures alone are where God has given man instruction unto obedience and godliness, and this was the birthright of the Jewish people. The scriptures reveal the faithfulness of God to faithless men, and the faithlessness of the Jews never nullifies the faithfulness of God. God remains faithful to his covenant even if all people show themselves to be liars. God will save all of those whom he has chosen because God is faithful to himself, and God will judge the unfaithful of his people according to the warnings he has given. It is absurd to charge God with wickedness for punishing the unjust; he will judge all the earth with righteousness and equity.
The Gospel is not lawlessness, and the mercy and justice of the Lord provides no license to sin. Those who slander the Lord in this manner receive just punishment from God by their condemnation. Man is in bondage to sin, and the Gospel is true liberation and freedom for God's people.
