The holiness of God, while glorious, is also dangerous. Sin cannot well with Him. Many incidents in the Scriptures show us the danger of God’s holiness. Achan was stoned for violating it by taking things from Jericho that were under the ban. Ananias and his wife were struck down immediately when they lied to Peter and thus to the Holy Spirit. We all deserve to be treated in this way because of our sin which violates God’s holiness. But God provides grace by which we are able to come to the Lord in His holy place through the confession and forgiveness of our sins.
