Idea: Union with Christ produces sound doctrine, therefore abide in Jesus by abiding in His word.
Intro: In the context of John's exhortation to love one another, he also touches on a crucial article of faith. Four different times in these verses, John brings up the subject of God's dwelling in believers, and visa versa, believers dwelling in God. He relates this to the love of God and loving one another, a subject that he's already developed well. But he also relates this to sound doctrine, what I'll call an article of faith. “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, god abides in him, and he in God.”
