Idea: The central meaning of the parable is that the Kingdom of heaven has come into the world to be received by some but rejected by others. Intro: The four soils represent four different types of people and four different types of response to the gospel, which can actually be further simplified to two responses. Some receive the message of the kingdom with faith and so spring up to eternal life. Others reject the message for a variety of reasons, and so go down to judgment. Of the four responses Jesus gives in the parable, one represents faith while the other three represent rejection. And as you might imagine, the three given here could be looked at as representative. In other words, there are many ways people ignore or reject the message of JC, but these three will serve to make the point that the Kingdom of heaven has come into the world to be received by some but rejected by others.
