Many people followed the Lord Jesus after the public miracle of the resurrection of Lazarus from the tomb. The Sanhedrin, with Caiaphas as the high priest, convened in order to determine what should be done about Jesus. The Sanhedrin perceived that Christ was a threat to their authority and social position while simultaneously acknowledging the truth of the signs and wonders performed by the Lord. Caiaphas instructed that the Sanhedrin should begin plotting the death of Christ in order to preserve the established order, and he unwittingly spoke prophecy naming the Lord a scapegoat for all the people.
