Being Christ’s Body In the Bible, the church of Jesus Christ is called metaphorically, the Body of Christ. That terminology indicates the close bond that those in the church have both with each other and with Jesus Christ. As the parts of the body belong to each other and are useful to each other, so each member of the church affects each other. They are able to rejoice with each other as well as to cry with each other. When one hurts, the others hurt. So also, the activities of one affect the activities of everyone else. If you belong to Jesus Christ, you do not belong only to Him—you belong to every other member of His Body. While there will be grief in belonging to such a Body, the sorrow in being separated from the church is far greater and the joy of belonging to Christ and His Church is incomparably greater than the greatest joy you can have apart from this Body. How can you belong to this Body? By confessing your sin to the Lord and turning from it by the grace of Christ as you come to trust in His work for you. We want you to belong to Christ and His Body, experiencing the love of Christ that will continue even through difficult times.
