The Role of the Law What does the Law of God do for you? That may seem to be a strange question since the law seems to be static, not doing anything for you. And yet may people are expecting the law to give them eternal life. They think that by obeying the law they will be delivered from any curse that might be on us. The law, however, is unable to do that. Instead of confirming that we are good enough to be with God in heaven it points out our sin to us. We haven’t met its perfect standard. We are condemned by the law. And yet the law has a good purpose. As it condemns us it convicts us that we cannot deliver ourselves from condemnation and teaches us to look outside ourselves. At the same time it teaches us where to look: to One who is perfect and who fulfills all the demands of the law. Our only Redeemer is Jesus Christ, the only person to obey the law, who also took the curse of the law for all who trust in Him. Are you trusting in Him to deliver you from the curse of the law?
