God is infinitely willing to forgive. If you find yourself in the pig pen today, then hear the good news that God is willing to forgive. If you have been crushed by pursuing your own selfish desires, and have found that the road of selfish pursuit has a bitter end, then hear the good news that Jesus receives sinners. If you have been overwhelmed by your own brokenness, then listen to the call of the Holy Spirit to go to God to find forgiveness and life.
Furthermore, these words are not just for the prodigal in the pig pen. They are for all who has repented as well. You need to know that God forgives your sin and shame. He doesn't remember them. He accepts you as a son or daughter of God, full heirs of Christ. That sonship implies a complete and radical change in your life. You now belong to a new master, one who loves you and forgives you. By His mercy you have been born again to a living hope, and you live out that hope in this life through grateful obedience.
Why? Because God is willing to forgive sinners. Come to Him all who are weary and heavy burdened, and He will give you rest. |
