1. When did the church start? The olive tree signifies the church as one and the same church existing under both testaments with the same fundamental message of salvation.
2. When did the church take on visible boundaries? The visible expression of the church on earth began with Abraham and his seed and is mixed, that is of elect and non-elect.
3. Did the OT church include infants? Circumcision commanded for believing fathers and their seed as the sign of outward membership and a mark of belonging to the congregation of the Lord, Exodus 12:47.
4. Has the position of infants in the church changed? Their position the same but with a change of sign - baptism - extending to male and female, the church being no longer of national distinction.
5. Is there a promise to go with the sign? The promise extends to the believing and to their seed upon the condition of faith in Christ, Ps 95:7;11
