David is the original Annointed of the Lord. God chose him, God had him designated by the prophet, God supplied him with the Spirit and it is David's throne that is established over the House of God. So it is, in this sense, that he is the original Annointed. But, in reality, he is the shadow and Christ is the substance. Jesus is actually the original after which David is patterned. Jesus is the ultimate Annointed One. He is the Chosen One. He was publicly identified with an annointing. The Spirit of God was poured out on Him without measure. He is God's designated king to sit on the throne of David His father according to the flesh. |
