1 and 2 Chronicles were written as one book but were later divided into two volumes at the time of its translation into Greek. It was the last book of the Hebrew Bible and is included in the Writings rather than as a history. It may look like it is merely a long list of names but to the Jews who returned from the exile is was a sermon that pointed to them to mend their ways so that they would not be taken again into exile to something worse. Even this chapter is Scripture that is profitable for us. In it we are reminded of the rebellion of the nations against the Lord but also the fact that He has remembered the nations so that they would be brought in as members of Christ.
