SERMON INFO
1. The summary of God's law in the two great commandments. We need to be directed how we are to love God and men. Our evangelistic duty is not to be viewed as an 'extra' but rather as part of our duty to love God and our neighbour; of holiness and conformity to Christ.

2. Our love to our neighbour is to be patterned after God's love to all men in this life, Matt 5:43-48. The nature of this love:
i) a love extended to our enemies
ii) not a love according to any inherent goodness in men.
iii) a love of benevolence
iv) a love patterned after God's but not that distinctive love for the elect. Throughout the Scriptues God's redeeming love is the pattern for our love to the brethren, and his general love shown in the bestowment of common mercies in this life, the pattern for our indiscriminate love to all men.

3. The fulfilling of the evangelistic mandate is the application of this love to God and man, by the fact that we have the gospel and live in a fallen world. The presence of this love to God and man in our hearts will cause us to desire to have the gospel declared in every legitimate manner, which is to God's honour, and to desire our neighbour's salvation which is for his good.

4. The Scriptural teaching on our evangelistic responsibility.
i) prayer
ii) godly living
iii) Christian speech
iv) the churches' role
v) training in godliness not technique
