God created the universe for His own glory and placed man on earth to meet with Him and to glorify Him. So He filled the earth with His glory and we look forward to the time the earth will be filled with the knowledge of His glory. David and Solomon made the temple for God’s glory. When we gather to worship God, this is our purpose. We gather to honor God, not mothers on that Sunday in early May; we gather to honor God and not to show off our spring outfits one Easter Sunday; etc. Because of the greatness of His glory we need to be profuse in our worship of Him.
