They will not listen Jim, this is what happens when we exchange God's commands for the traditions of men.

KJVO is traditionalism at it's worst, and traditionalism will not listen to either reason or the word of God!

I too believe God has preserved His word in the Vulgate, Geneva, AV, RSV, ASV, NIV, ESV etc.
We take them all to the MSS to determine which one is most accurate.

I am not missing the point, which bible does not take context into consideration?

You are missing the point my friend, many times the scriptures call Jesus the son of God without 'begotten' Mark 1:1 for instance, this makes your argument on John 3 obsolete.

And yes I have many copies of God's perfect word 'copies' being the operative word, and all copies are subject to scribal errors, as there was only one infallible human.

That's why we must cry with Erasmus ad fontes!

"For example, they understood that the Bible says elsewhere that all believers are sons of God."

According to that rational, Jesus should have told Peter off in Matt 16:16 'And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.'

Why didn't Jesus tell Peter off for not calling him the only begotten son of the living God?

You see your reasoning falls down under it's own standards!

Waken up!

Ivan I have not said these things because you believe in the purity of God's word, but because you insist on the AV being the only viable English version, which is an absurd position.

Yes I am impressed by these evangelical giants and I honour them as teachers given to the church for our benefit. How dare you say men like Macarthur and Sproul are inclined to change God's word, you clearly have no idea what you are talking about, and are a case in point with regards my post about cults, you have obviously been brainwashed by the KJVO cult.

The fact is that of all the evangelical giants today, Mcarthur, Sproul, Ferguson, Piper, Mohler, Carson, none of them are AV only. Preachers like Washer, Martin, Lloyd Jones, Boice to name just a few, none of them are AV only. A few months ago I attended the Banner of Truth Pastors conference, and none of the speakers used the AV. People all around the world, tens of thousands are being converted and many are made Martyrs for their faith who use bibles who's textual basis is not the TR.

It is time these kjvo advocates stopped this Romish like traditionalism, and got back to Sola Scripturia!

And it's funny how you pick and choose cults the mormons use the AV!
Wesborough Baptist, AV
Jim Jones, AV
David Koresh, AV
Oneness pentecostalism usually AV only
William Branham cult AV only

This is indeed a typical reply from a KJO advocate the word in question is μονογενη used of only sons or daughters, viewed in relation to their parents. Now you would agree that Christ is the only Son of God with regards His eternal sonship wouldn't you?
Then it is not right to say this translation is wrong.

Anyone advocating the burning of bibles seriously needs to check themselves, and in fact examine themselves to see whether they be in the faith.

Yours in Christ

former KJVO Robert

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

Who in their right mind could burn a bible with these verses in it?

I guess it shows you the spirit that drives these bible burners!

Amen! Thank you for this wonderful message! For many years I was "going about to establish my own righteousness", and was ignorant of this great truth of the imputed Righteousness of Christ for our eternal justification in the sight of God...(Romans 10:3)...Yes, the Bible is very clear...Isaiah 61:10 ..I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels...Praise God..our eternal Salvation is of the LORD...!
