To minnow my concern is not those who will be raised, but that these verses(For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive) cannot be used as a basis for a universal atonement.

I wanted to post this right after my last post but had to wait, on someonelse posting.

but by and by, you did qoute John 5
"Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation."
here we have both the saved and the lost resurrected, sounds universal to me.

Universal resurrection that is, not universal atonement.

Thanks.

In 1st Cor 15 Paul is adressing the concerns of believers, with regards to their dead friends and relatives who were believers, thus he uses language suited to that end.

I think we have got our wires crossed, this is undoubtly my fault. Sorry

Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

Can any honest person say that the context of these verses is not the resurrection of the dead ?
Paul uses Christ as proof that there is such a thing as resurrection.

"For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth)"

The answer to the question posed is clearly seen.
Who is elect in this passage ?
one child and not the other (Jacob as apposed to his brother)

on what is election based ? Clearly not on forseen faith or works "neither having done any good or evil"

So what is it based upon ? "the purpose of God"

otherwise known as the good pleasure of His will!

I beg you stop trying to plunder Gods Glory, for he will not share it with another.

Sola Deo Gloria !

Just a quick point to whomever it may concern.1st Cor 15 has nothing to do with salvation, or the offer of salvation, but universal resurrection.
Please do not twist the scriptures.

If the early Church took up Tithes, Why did Paul have to tell them to Pay their spiritual leaders?

1 Corinthians 9:9. For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?
1 Corinthians 9:11. If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
1 Timothy 5:17. Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

Humm....What were the people in the early Church doing with the Tithe?

I firmly believed that God Commanded the Church to give the Tithes, only until I Read God's Word. All Things should be settled with Scripture, not Man's Word.

When in the world has James Dobson ever preached the gospel?
Other than the CCM pimps, I believe James Dobson has done more harm to Christians, Christain marriages and Christian families than anyone else in the past 25 years.
I believe there should be more people in the world like James Dobson. Focus on the family has displayed the christian life to the unchurched and has been instrumental in bringing wayward christians back to the Lord.

"From being a nation, Israel shall not disappear from the earth, just as so many others perish in the course of ages, for Israel is His chosen people, the apple of His eyes. Israel can never be destroyed!"

Please Christians, pick up your bibles and read, the nation of Israel has been destroyed, and punished many times for their Idolatry, and their utter wickedness.
Read the History of the Jewish nation and people,it is rich with the wrath of God.
Will God destroy them again?
Have they repented?

Christians should not unreservedly support any nation which treats the blood of Christ as an unholy thing.

We should be concerned about justice and equity, for both Jew and Muslim, but most of all for Christians, the true holy nation the church.

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy."

Christ Alone !

"Why Born Again Christians Should Pray and Support Israel?"

Christian should pray for Israel like they should pray for Iran ! and every other Christ rejecting Nation and people, for except Jew/Arab/RC/ Repent they shall all likewise perish.

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."

The Jew just like the Muslim reject Christ, therefore they will both burn in hell.
This message is not popular today and I am sure I will get slaughtered for this post, but the truth stands.

Christ and Christ Alone!

"Jesus said concerning Israel:

Joh 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."

WOW! What a twisted contrived view of this passage.

J,D I Do not know anything about you sir, but you must be a spiritual child of Scofield, or Darby, to be able to contort scripture like this.

the passage clearly says that only those who are given tp Christ by the father, will come to Him. And that No man can come in any other way. to narrow this down to Israel only is a crime.
