SERMON INFO
The Apostle Paul gives specific instructions as to how Christian are to live within the church. Everyone must live and think with honest measured assessment and sober judgment as they reflect the grace of God within the community of faith. The gifts and abilities of each Christian are to be used for the edification and building up of the church not for self glory. All have been assigned a measure of faith for specific reasons and callings within the body. The illustration of a body describes the importance of each member within the very Body of Christ. The church is one Body of Christ with many members each dependent upon the other, crossing all cultural and status boundaries.

There are two general types of gifts: speaking gifts and serving gifts. Prophecy and teaching are both speaking gifts for instructing the people of the Lord. The charismatic office of prophet has passed away but the labor of preaching, teaching and exhorting continue to this day. Not everyone is called to be a pastor, but all should be involved in teaching one another and providing encouragement and exhortation. Serving extends beyond the deaconate as many participate in giving service, gifts, and mercy to the church. Few are called to lead as elders, but all can lead by example in showing forth a godly life. The cheerful disposition of church in sharing it gifts shows forth the love of Christ to all and brings the Lord much glory.
