God first loved us and He asks us to respond in kind. He pledges His love and loyalty and He asks from us love and loyalty to Him. Thus, the first table of the Law--loving God. The second table of the Law is about loving us. What I mean is this: we are called to love one another. Where will this love come from? It comes from God first loving us. He instills Christ's love in us by the Holy Spirit and enables us to love one another as an expression of love to Him. So, we love us loving Him because He first loved us.
