Great Sermon! Very helpful! This sermon is full of practical instruction, not only about what we should avoid doing with the tongue, but also how we can use it to the glory of God and the edification of others!
Great Sermon! A very helpful, practical sermon full of necessary instruction regarding the Christian's use of social networking sites. The rules which govern the use of our tongues also govern what we write on-line!
"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."
Ephesians 4:29-32
Great Sermon! "Christ died and rose again for us." Theological liberals, Jehovah's Witnesses, Roman Catholics, prosperity gospel preachers and others all use language which sounds evangelical, yet when they use these words they do not mean what the Bible means by them. Pastor Silversides teaches the true meaning of the atonement from the Bible so that we need not be deceived. "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." II Corinthians 11:3
Excellent Sermon! This sermon offers thorough Scriptural teaching concerning the Christian's relationship to the Ten Commandments. There is much confusion in today's church on this subject, and many have embraced the false doctrine of antinomianism, which teaches that believers are not obligated to keep God's law as a rule of life. Pastor Silversides soundly confutes this heresy, showing that a Christian will keep God's law as an expression of love for his Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Well-balanced and Clear! "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified." (Romans 8:29-30) The Bible plainly teaches election and predestination. But how may one know if he's elect? Before conversion, no man can know whether or not he is elect. It is only by believing on Christ for salvation that one may know that he is among the elect of God. Listen to this sermon to learn more about this important truth!
Being proud of nothing! It is better to be proud of nothing, lest our foolish pride get the better of us. Being "proud" of something is sinful pride.
The voice from Heaven recorded in Matthew 3:17 referred to His Beloved Son in whom He is well pleased. The voice from Heaven did not say that He was "proud" of His Son, but that He was well pleased with His Son.
Being well pleased with something is not the same as being "proud" of something.
Wisdom vs. prestige Suffering, agony, and humiliation are the biggest fears of the prestigious because they will experience such things sooner or later. Remember Proverbs 16:18.
Prestige-the shortcut to foolishness The desire and pursuit of prestige is mere foolishness and worldliness. The world image of prestige is reflected in academia (P.h.D) and pro sports (Olympic medals, and championship titles). Remember the sobering warning of 1 John 2:15-17. Enough said.
Great Sermon! Rather than hypocritically challenge the truth of God's Word with insincere questions and objections, we must, with humility and meekness, seek the truth as God has revealed it to us. Just as the Pharisees were never able to win in their verbal contests with Christ, so will we also come out the losers if we attempt to argue with God. Rather than engage in what is sure to be a losing battle, why not simply put your faith in Christ, forsake your sin, and know the blessedness of friendship with Him eternally?
Absolute Truth About Abortion! Does human life begin at conception? Must life be protected, even at its earliest stages? The Bible's answer to these questions is an unequivocal "Yes!" Our nation has been denying these truths for forty-five years, but God's Word remains the same. To continue to pollute the land with the blood of our own children is to invite further judgments from God as His wrath is increasingly kindled against us. May He have mercy on us....
The Lord God Omnipotent Reigneth! ".....God CANNOT be tempted, NEITHER CAN he tempt. This latter assertion refers not to the power of God, as if he were unable; but to his nature, whereby he is unwilling....." J Stevenson
The Lord God Omnipotent Reigneth! "The power of God is his all-perfect, self-existent essence. He has absolutely unlimited power to do whatsoever his bature determines him to will. But this power cannot be directed against his nature. God cannot change the nature of right and wrong etc because he did not make himself, and these have their determination in his own external perfections. He cannot act unwisely or unrighteously, not for want of power as respects the act, but for want of will, since God is eternally, immutably, and most freely and spontaneously, wise and righteous" A.A. Hodge
The Lord God Omnipotent Reigneth! "It has also usually been said by Theologians that God's will is limited, not only by the necessary contradiction, but by His own perfections. The meaning is correct, the phrase is incorrect. God's will is not limited; for these perfections as much ensure He will never wish, as that He will never do, those incompatible things. He does absolutely all that He wills. But thus explained, the qualification is fully sustained by Scripture. 2 Tim 2:13, Titus 1:2, Heb 6:18, James 1:13" R.L. Dabney
Very helpful Paul, I was sorry to miss the meeting. Just listening now. Thankfully we are being sharpened by the Lord in his own time in a way that is good for us. He does not leave us comfortably in our sin. Bless his name! How we need him to lead us in the narrow way. We cannot do it without our father in heaven. We do owe Christ everything! "If God's people do not interest you then Christ does not interest you" How true. "If there is no chastisement then God has given you over to that sin". A fearful thought. "There is enough inside us to condemn us, just not enough to save us." Thankfully, he drives foolishness from our hearts. Oh it is slowly. But bless his name, surely! Romans 8:28 an excellent text to conclude the message with. May we never forget the blessings of our God to his people and to our own souls! Thank God for his mercy and patience in dealing with us.
Great Sermon! The Lord Jesus is the source of truth. It does not lie in the world, or in your heart, or in your feelings, or in religion, but in Him. Trust in the Lord Jesus and be not confounded! He is the way, the truth, and the life; believe on Him and be set free.
Great Sermon! "Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus." (II Timothy 1:13)
Not only should churches have a creed, every church and every Christian does, in fact, have one. The creed may be good or bad, written down or merely held in the mind, but even the statement, "No creed but the Bible," is a statement of belief, and therefore a creed. Creeds provide a summary of what a church believes the Bible teaches and are therefore necessary to a church's testimony. They are also useful as an aid in instructing Christians in biblical truth. Yes! Churches should have creeds!
Great Sermon! The light of the gospel transforms lives, from the inside out. Come to Jesus Christ, the Light of the world, and discover His transforming power in every part of your heart and life!
