Sermon:
Was C. S. Lewis an Evangelical?
Rev David Silversides

“ Important Message ”
C.S. Lewis could not be a true Christian given the heresies and fictions he has published. Only his popularity and the fact that modern evangelicals have no discernment could cause him to pass for a "Christian". If you want allegory, compare his writings to that of John Bunyan, who was entirely scriptural in Pilgrim's Progess and Holy War. It is idolatry to remake the person or character of God and Christ into the works of one's own animated imagination (even mental instead of "graven" images), which is what he does. The works of C.S. Lewis should be denounced as mystical fantasy and heresies instead of Christian truth. His works are pure Fiction, NOT "Christian fiction".

“ Wonderful Teaching ”
I am very happy to have discovered this pastor-teacher for he takes his task for more seriously than the "lay-back" contemporary teachers of the day. I like getting the most out of the Word for the time spent studying it.. The sermon was an outstanding exposition of the text with application to the sovereignty of God. However, I would have appreciated more description of the historical predicament of Judah, fearsomeness of the invading armies, and whether or not this prophesy had any bearing on the slaying of the 186,000 Assyrian soldiers in the day of Hezekiah.

“ Useful sermon ”
An interesting sermon but surely this message should be based on what an evangelical is? If an evangelical is a Calvinist CS Lewis was not one, if an evangelical is someone who believes in God inspired word of Gid as infallible he is no evangelical- if evangelical means someone who trusts in Christ and wants others to be saved by the same Saviour then he could be called an evangelical. CS Lewis was a product of a mixed up group of Anglicans where the intellect was greater than the Word of God- he was a Christian, saved by the same Lord but had some very unusual views in many areas. It is good to remember that we are all to be saved by grace through faith and not by works- intellectual, doctrinal soundness or orthodoxy- lest any man should boast.

“ Important, Relevant Message! ”
Every pastor, seminary professor, especially of "Reformed" circles, must listen to this thoughtful, sober expose' of the errors of Rushdooney, Joe Morecraft, Gary North and other theonomists who quote and cite them in their sermons as authoritative. It is time to be discerning of all the ministries (from Chalcedon Foundation on to DeMar's/Phillips American Vision to Peroutka's The American View) that use and quote them, both in religion and politics, in which there is a large political following. Many are being led astray from the truth and must be corrected before the error produces the bad fruit and consequences evidenced in this message.

“ Providential Sermon! ”
God in His providence brought us to this chapter of Isaiah only this Lord Days! The application of these truths was never more timely than now when many Christians are "making a covenant with death!" As we face the failure of the Republican party in the nomination of Sarah Palin, a married woman with children at home, to the vice-presidential ticket, we must have Biblical truth to stand upon! There is no shelter in lies, nor in cooperating with sin! Thank you Pastor Silversides for this sermon! Thank you God for the timing.

“ Fascinating comparison ”
What's really fascinating is to compare this presentation to the American pastor Duane Farley's series on postmodernism, because the two sides of the ocean "deconstruct" postmodernism in two radically different ways. That's what postmodernism is about, different perspectives, and the two approaches to it illustrate this graphically. (If you're new to postmodernism, Pastor Dominic Smart also has a great primer on sermonaudio.)

“ A Major Demonic Deception And Delusion In Our Day ”
This sermon contains excellent insights into the Devil's methodology for the deception of modern (Humanistic) man, societies and even "churches." Also included is the biblical remedy to these specific demonic lies. To further lay the axe at the root (Matthew 3:10) of Postmodern and Humanistic folly and heresy, as it manifests itself in individuals, families, churches and the state (civil government, morality and law), see the free MP3 "The First Commandment: Exposing the Idolatry of Arminianism, Roman Catholicism, Cults, Judaism, Islam, Humanism, Materialism, etc.," at http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=9260511205 .

“ Important Covenanted Reformation History On MP3 ”
Thank you for this faithful recounting of important (Covenanted) Reformation history. MP3 readings of sermons by some of the Covenanters mentioned in this message are at http://www.sermonaudio.com/go/353 (Cameron), http://www.sermonaudio.com/go/354 (Cargill), http://www.sermonaudio.com/go/355 (Rutherford) and http://www.sermonaudio.com/go/352 (Renwick). Greg Price's MP3s also deal with these same teachings and times at http://www.sermonaudio.com/go/356 . Also, here is an interesting quote related to the period covered in this MP3: "The Covenants are an important attainment, no lasting and binding agreement is attained without establishing them first" (Session 23, 1648, A Declaration and Exhortation of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland to their Brethren of England, from _The Acts of the General Assemblies of the Church of Scotland, From the Year 1638 to the Year 1649 Inclusive_, available under "CHURCH OF SCOTLAND GENERAL ASSEMBLY 1638-1649" at http://www.swrb.com/catalog/c.htm ).

Is God male?
Rev David Silversides

“ Great Sermon! ”
Very big subject, and I'm thankful to God for people like Rev. Silversides that don't shy away from addressing it. It's important that we remember Man (males) is the glory of God, and Woman (female) is the glory of man. Both man and woman are in the image of God. Man being created in the image of God, and woman being created in the image of man. Consider Genesis 1-3.

“ Great Sermon! ”
This is an excellent and timely message! Truly the Lord is the same today as He was in Israel's day. His standards and principles have not changed and Rev. Silversides brings this fact home. Each point is applicable to today's society and the inevitable destruction being brought about by our ignorance and hostility to God. Listen to this sermon, pray and then act! Christians must stand for truth and be salt and light! Thank you again Rev. Silversides!

“ A needed clarification! ”
Excellent material which clarifies an issue that is extremely confusing in today's Christian world. In fact, I just heard a very well-known radio preacher making a confusing mess of this issue in trying to explain it. He did not do a good job because his theology was Arminian in nature, and he got mixed up. This sermon explains the theological issues clearly and uses scriptural support. Unfortunately this is 71 minutes, but don't despair because the first 20 minutes really get to the point, and if you can't listen to the whole thing the first part will help you understand what the Bible says.

Good exposition of a densely packed seven verses -- unlocks a lot of the meaning in what may seem to just be the preamble to an ambitious and doctrine-packed letter. Definitely a passage to go slowly through!

“ Great Sermon! ”
I studied this scripture and then search for a sermon that preached what the bible truth is regarding being tried while on this journey on this earth and the true confessions of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives. I would also refer to Matthew 3:11-12 of what no greater profit John the Baptist reveled to us with regards to the baptism with fire. Also the Paul in Hebrews 6:1&2 of the principles of the doctrine of Christ. This is the milk of the Word of God. In todays language "We are a work in progress" and we are not the potter of that work. God almighty is the Christian's potter!
