Thank you Rev. Silversides for this sermon, the doctrine of prayer has been on my mind lately. I was convicted by some points you made, and some other points brought me to think more deeply about how I should pray. Thank you.

“ Great Sermon! ”
How depressing it would be if there were no antidote for the depravity & wickedness of our own heart & the inevitable punishment by a Holy God, but Thankfully God has provided Himself a Lamb in the Person of our Lord Jesus Christ so none need perish, all can be forgiven, Sadly, the vast majority reject God`s gracious offer of a new heart & go to that awful judgment unready & unprepared. A very timely message from the Rev Silversides.

Sermon:
What is worldliness?
Rev David Silversides

“ Very Relevant Sermon! ”
This messages is a rebuke to modern Christianity, and relevant to late discussions about the New Calvinism and Worldliness, particularly addressed by Dr. Peter Masters in his excellent article: The Merger of Calivinism with Worldliness, and the upcoming Conference at the Spurgeon Tabernacle this July on similar subject. Many sound sermons are often directed against the "culture" of the world, while being stark blind that the Church has adopted the same licentious culture to itself, to where--except for outward church attendance, testimony of the mouth, use of silly symbols and messages--there is hardly a visible difference between the church and the world, and that only temporarily on Sundays. The modern taboos that attempt to hide under the slogan of "Christian liberty", like those of "lifestyle", "culture", Christian dress, music, money and material things, media interest, sports, language, etc...all could be suggested under this subject. This is still the age of McChristianity and Facebook Christianity, even among the "reformed", and the fruits of this worldly "christianity" are evident, "turning the Grace of God into Licentiousness".

“ Teaching much needed today ”
This is an excellent beginning for a Christian considering recreation. In our amusement oriented culture, we as Christians need to examine every part of our life to see if it is in submission to Christ's teaching. Thank you Pastor Silversides, we continue to lift you up in our prayers.

“ Contra mundum! ”
This sermon is a great starting place for a consideration of scriptural modesty standards. The treatment of the objection to modest dress that it make us appear odd is especially helpful. Given that the Bible teaches us not to be conformed to this world, and that we are commanded to dress modestly, should we not glory in showing forth the praises of Him who has completely covered our sin and shame with His own blood by completely covering our shameful physical nakedness with modest clothing? Was this not the connection made by the Lord Himself when he clothed Adam and Eve, replacing their immodest fig-leaf aprons with coats of skin? Or would we rather imitate and identify ourselves with the lost who refuse the gracious provision of salvation through Christ and manifest this rebellious condition by exposing their nakedness? Oh,that we Christians would shine forth as lights for the Lord Jesus in this crooked and perverse world, and not be at all ashamed of Him!

“ Great Sermon! ”
Praise the LORD! For months I have been praying and asking the LORD where my thinking has gone wrong as I have been so very depressed over the current estate of affairs in the United States and elsewhere... Well, after listening to this sermon I now see that a faulty and ignorant view of God's Word concerning End Times and His return was the main culprit. Thank you SermonAudio.com and Rev. Silversides for making this sermon available to me and others. I am now planning to read the book "Puritan Hope". :)

“ Great Sermon! ”
This exposition of Isaiah 61 is uplifting and encouraging, especially in a day of spiritual declension. Here is a Biblical basis for praying for reformation and revival in our day. I was particulary blessed by Mr Silversides comments on v9. This is an aknowledgement from the lips of the ungodly that the Lord has blessed His people. How we need such a testimony in our day to the glory of God. Thank you for the encouragement.

“ A Christ Glorifying Word! ”
Thank you for another excellent Gospel message exalting Christ's triumph by His Word and Spirit. Would that this trumpet were sounded more clearly throughout Christ's Church, even to the ends of the earth! I have appreciated your criticism and address of the problems with the so-called "Theonomy" movement in the past. In light of the glorious truths that are heralded here and in your many other sermons, I would hope to see a direct and deliberate response by yourself, or another minister of your caliber, addressing the equally delirious and detrimental doctrines being proposed by authors Darryl Hart ("A Secular Faith), Jason J. Stellman ("Dual Citizens"), Drs. R. Scott Clark & Michael S. Horton (of Westminster Seminary California), Lee Irons, and the late Meredith Kline, who twisting and perverting Calvin's doctrine of the Two Kingdoms, assert a virtually absolute religious neutrality in the civil sphere. Thank you again for your ceaseless and faithful labors in the Word and among Christ's flock.
